Projects and Assignments

Beyond the Page

I have touched upon this briefly in my Inspiration Monday blog update, but here’s a bit of a deeper insight into what has been going on with this author in the last while…

Since the beginning of the year, I have been given different assignments in college, which ranged from creating graphics and videos to coding and writing academic essays. I have even recorded myself doing a presentation and making my magazine cover. And now, we have come to the last four weeks of work this academic year. This means I have a good few assignments and projects I need to complete, with different deadlines looming over my head.

Social Media Project

Let us take the digital marketing module. Here, I have three weeks to build a digital marketing campaign on two social media platforms of my choice. However, I should have been doing these five weeks, so I have chosen to use all three (Instagram, Facebook, and X, and I already have accounts for all three platforms anyway). My pages needed some updates anyway…

My Digital Portfolios

In another subject, I have to complete a five-page website with my chosen topic. This is something that will eventually be coming online. It will be where I will put all my multimedia projects together, including the ones from my social media pages. The topic I settled on is a digital portfolio as a multimedia designer, which I am training to be.

And speaking of portfolios… I have two modules where I must create a digital portfolio. This means research (which is done) and sketches on how I wanted it to look, as well as the overall design when the artwork is included. I’m in the sketching phase right now and going through variations of my master template. The big idea from my head stays the same, and it’s just about executing variations on paper to consider how it will look best together in the end. When the notebook part of this project is finished, I will work on it in Photoshop and complete it.

The Film Trailer

One of these projects is in the film trailer I talked about on the Monday update, so we won’t discuss that today. We will leave it for the next update. You will see it when it’s finished, as The Wolf’s Heir is a short story very dear to my heart and has come up on my social media pages a few times.

The projects above aren’t all my tasks in the next four weeks.

I guess I’m trying to convey that this is why I haven’t been focusing on my social media pages in the last few months. It has been a hectic and joyous adventure since last September, and while I knew I would be learning a good bit when I enrolled, I hadn’t realised just how much that would genuinely be, what I would encounter, or the people I would meet. It’s one of those experiences I wouldn’t trade for anything, and I look forward to my second year in college.

There will be more updates like this, so stay tuned!

Until the next time…
