Let us have a little previously on… my activity hasn’t been great this past year with my focus on my education. Year One is over, and let me tell you, it was my best decision. Going back to college after thirty is an odd experience, but it’s also wonderful as you walk in there with a mindset your younger self never had. You care, want to succeed, and be the best.
My journey now leads to Just One, the book series that has occupied my mind for the past twenty years (I just did the math)…

I can attest this is completely and utterly true… keeping on to a story for so long without telling it is agony. Keeping a story inside you for so long makes it grow and bubble into a monster of unexpected proportions. Throughout the summer, we will discuss how big the Just One universe has grown in the past two decades and how much it threatens to expand further. This is why the competition for the series and publication of the stories is crucial at this age of my life. Because there are other stories in my head.

Just One is my want-to-read-but-doesn’t-exist-yet story. It always has been. From the first time I wrote fan fiction of the same name, it was a story developing as I wrote, with questions forming plot lines without me being aware. My imagination grew. My characters formed. My backstory became a story of its own. It was one of the most amazing experiences in my life and something I hadn’t felt until then, not truly.

Over the next couple of months, as I focus on Just One’s editing and working with my beta readers (this is where the book is, by the way, as I have focused their attention to specific questions and what I need to know moving forward), I will we publishing a series of blog posts that will mix Just One topics with writing, character development and some even more personal subjects. We’ll cover the outlines of the worlds within Just Ones, the soundtrack that helps me write, discuss Roswell High, the book series responsible for the TV show Roswell and more.
Last time I hung around these parts, I shared with you my Planning Process and the importance of Anakin Skywalker’s story and told you about my two weeks in Seville, Spain. If you haven’t seen those yet, feel free to catch up. The Anakin Skywalker blog post is particularly dear to me as both Star Wars and the character of Anakin have an essential place in my heart and mind in terms of my creativity and the wild imagination that has penned the worlds of Just One and inspired me to develop multiple Star Wars characters over the last twenty years. I also credit my brother for this revelation because I don’t think he put Star Wars on for his little sister; he was simply watching it himself. It was the beginning of everything…
